The Pace has been set

Leicester, 1 October 2000.

The pace for an Emergency Fund Raising Campaign to save the Leicester Temple has been set with a presentation of Pundarika Prabhu, the Vice President of the Temple. Pundarika outlined the different levels on which devotees can get involved in contributing towards the smooth running of the Temple in terms of festivals, fund raising, preaching, maintenance and administration, which can all be seen in terms of establishing a sound Varnasrama society.

He emphasized the importance of generating funds as the financial forecast indicates that we will not be able to pay our mortgage for the month of October. To this end he distributed Standing Order Forms to all present at the Sunday program.

Two guests and newcomers to the Temple have laid down the pace and level of involvement by setting a shining example for the devotees of Leicester. Right on the spot they did the needful and filled in a Standing Order Form of £15 each. One of the visitors is only a student. This is a glorious example of pleasing Their Lordships Sri Sri Pancha Tattva and Srila Prabhupada by engaging actively in The Lord's Devotional Service, which is glorified throughout the three worlds and which rewards the highest benefit to the sincere devotee.

Our present financial situation is as follows. The mortgage alone is £635 per month. The bills are in the region of £150 a month. The regular monthly income via Standing Orders is now £380. We have a shortfall of just over £400 every month.
